About the Solution:

Separation stands at the forefront of liquid manure management. It is the starting point of subsequent meaningful liquid manure preparation. After separating into solid and liquid media, many useful opportunities for further processing exist. For instance, the separated solid portion is used today to produce valuable bedding material or compost. The liquid manure in turn ensures reliable growth in the fields during every growing season. It replaces chemical fertilizer to save money, lowers environmental impact and promotes animal health.

  • Used extensively on dairies across the country to reduce storage and application concerns

  • Minimal maintenance and operator time required
Bauer Group is a worldwide manufacturer and supplier of reliable screw press separation technologies, with hundreds of installations in the United States.  Bauer Groups separators are sold under both the Bauer and FAN brands.  Screw press separators are best suited for coarse solids removal.   Screen life will be shortened if bedding sand is not removed prior to separation.  Also, glazing over of the screen openings can reduce performance, but is easily addressed by routine cleaning and maintenance.

Newtrient is working to collect performance data for the Bauer/FAN screw press to develop an independent case study.  Newtrient will continue to work with Bauer Group to further refine the cost and performance information as more information comes in with new commercial dairy installations.
